Conversation (my latest performance piece) My work for performance is shifting more towards direct engagement of the audience and often emphasizes multiple perspectives on a single problem or idea. A good deal of my inspiration comes from the sciences as well as the notion of literally experimenting with a theory about how certain aspects of the world might work. A current member of the Women's Project Playwrights Lab and the America-in-Play workshop, I was also a 2006/2007 fellow of the Dramatists Guild of America. In addition, I recently awarded a Ludwig Vogelstein Grant to begin work on a still developing project, The Typewriter Girls. Recent theatrical productions include: Your Own Personal Apocalypse (New York, NY); Conversation (New York, NY); The Interview (Edinburgh Fringe Festival, Scotland, UK); Causality (Wheeling, WV); Three Choices (Chesterfield, UK); Pieces (Washington, DC, & Iowa City, IA); Class and The Great American Novel (Washington, DC); Finding Words and Unfettered (Kansas City, MO). My play, Pieces, was published by KNOCK Magazine in late 2007. |

New Acquisition In 2007 I founded New Acquisition, a literary and performance project aimed at engaging emerging artists in contemporary social and political issues. The project has a particular focus on promoting the work of female artists. The seed money to start the project came from a 2007 Puffin Foundation Artists Grant. So far New Acquisition has produced two pamphlets along with their accompanying performances: Your Own Personal Apocalypse and Dance Away Your Debt You can also learn about some of the research behind the project on the web site. |
